Is Minnesota heading towards another wide spread storm season like we had back in May 1998? There were thousands and thousands of homes and structures that were damaged and in need of repair. Hail damaged roofs and broke windows. Vinyl, steel, and aluminum siding looked like a machine gun had rifled the exterior of everyone’s homes. As a result of the storms, Minnesota was attracting storm damage restoration companies and roofing contractors from all over the United States to assist in the reconstruction, clean up and repair process. It reminded me of the winter of 1997 – 1998, which meteorologists classified as an “El Nino” winter. This too was one of the warmest winters on record. The 2011- 2012 is also classified as an “El Nino” winter, so we must ask ourselves, is this year gearing up to be another year of major storms?
